March 2016 Fromm Dog Food Recall
March 2016 – Fromm Family Pet Food is recalling three types of Gold canned dog food.
Wisconsin-based Fromm Family Pet Food has announced on its website a voluntary recall of 12oz cans of its new Gold Pates because the products “do not contain recommended levels of vitamins and minerals” and “may contain elevated levels of Vitamin D”.
The issue was discovered by the company’s own analysis and the recall is being taken as a precautionary measure. The company states that it has not received any reports of dogs experiencing health problems relating to the affected products and that the effect of the excess Vitamin D should only be seen “when dogs have eaten these products as their exclusive meals for an extended period of time”.
The company recommends customers do not feed the affected recipes to their dogs. Recalled cans should be returned to the place of purchase or any Authorized Fromm Retailer.
The recalled cans were shipped to distributors between December 2015 and February 2016 and customers should look for the following information on the product label to identify affected products:
